ICSC Makes a Triumphant Return to New York City
We’ve attended hundreds of commercial real estate events since founding Leasecake in 2017, but none were as anticipated or meaningful as ICSC New York 2022. It was exciting to join about 7,000 brokers, retailers, and landlords who streamed into the Javits Center as ICSC returned to the Big Apple for the first time since 2019.
We love organizations that bring diverse groups of people together for a purpose. And that’s where ICSC shines. The conference was a stimulating two days of inspiring new ideas, knowledge sharing, and vibrant conversation.
One of the dominant themes at the event was the expectation of further tenant diversity in 2023, along with more new concepts and innovative leasing strategies. We heard compelling conversations related to the evolving flexibility of lease options for retail tenants. Landlords are working closely with tenants to ensure their success by offering shorter-term leases and other creative solutions.
Validation
At our first ICSC New York event in 2019, we left with a sense of purpose and confidence as the market validated our model of supporting all sides of the commercial real estate transaction. We were zeroing in on our location management philosophy at the time, and had high hopes for creating deeper, more meaningful industry connections in 2020.
Although the path to achieving those connections took a few more turns than everyone expected due to the pandemic, we’ve grown both in terms of our industry footprint and our approach to helping franchise and retail location operators focus on what matters when it matters.
The community has been so supportive of what we do — and I love the conversations around how we can help multiple service industries — including CPA firms, attorneys, insurance brokers, lenders, and private equity.
